Services for Eligible Out of School Youth and Young Adults ages 16 to 24 include:
Tuition Assistance for Vocational and Career Scholarship Programs: Financial assistance to help with the cost of tuition, books, and other fees related to post-secondary training in a demand occupation.
Supportive Services: Financial assistance for other costs related to post-secondary vocational training, which might include transportation, child care, special uniforms and/or tools.
Paid and Unpaid Work Experience: Paid placement at a local business from two weeks to three months to give the participant exposure to employment and work experience in a trade or career.
More Services: Soft skills training, volunteer opportunities,resume/cover letter preparation, job search assistance, vocational/skill assessments, mock interviews, job shadows/business tours, networking opportunities, application assistance and various workshops offered throughout the year.
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Eligibility Guidelines:
* Participants must have one of the following barriers.
- High School Drop Out
- Subject to the juvenile or adult justice system
- Foster care or has aged out of the foster care system
- Pregnant or parenting
- Individual with a disability
* Low income eligibility is required for the following.
- Basic skills deficient
- Requires additional assistance to complete an educational program or to secure and retain employment.
Summer Employment Opportunities for Eligible In and Out of School Youth ages 14-20:
Paid Work Experience: Paid work placement are available with local business throughout Wyoming County giving the participant exposure to employment and work experience in a trade or career. You can earn $10.40/hour working 25 hours per week for 5 weeks.
